To understand why a healing crisis happens, it helps to imagine deep-cleaning a house that hasn’t been dusted in years.
If you want to truly clean a room, you can’t just sweep the dirt under the rug. You have to move the heavy furniture, pull out the old boxes from the back of the closet, and shake out the rugs. During that middle phase of cleaning, the air gets dusty. Things look messy. The room actually looks significantly worse than it did before you started.
But you haven't ruined the room; you’ve simply stirred up the stagnant dust so you can finally wipe it away for good.
A Reiki session does the exact same thing for your system. When gentle life force energy floods your body, it moves the "heavy furniture" of your energetic field. How to Support Yourself Through It

Hydrate: Drink plenty of water. Just as water helps flush physical toxins from your muscles after a deep tissue massage, it helps move and ground energetic shifts.
Give In to the Rest: If your body is asking for a nap or an early bedtime, honor it. Your body does its heaviest lifting and repairing when your conscious mind is asleep.
Let the Emotions Flow: If you feel the urge to cry, let it happen. Tears are a physical mechanism for emotional release. Resisting the emotion only traps it right back in your system.
Step Outside: Walk barefoot on the grass, sit by a tree, or simply stand in the fresh air for a few minutes. Nature is incredibly grounding and helps stabilize a shifting nervous system.
Put Pen to Paper (Journaling): When emotions bubble up without a clear reason, don't try to analyze them logically. Just grab a notebook and write. Let it be messy and uncensored. Journaling gives that rising emotional energy a physical exit route, helping you process the clearing without getting stuck in your head.
